EXHIBITS TO EXPLORE

Exhibits are currently not set up due to relocation.

Bienvenue a Saint-Louis, Senegal

Click here to view a Senegal slideshow in Shockwave Player.

Visitors may now experience everyday life in our sister city, Saint-Louis, Senegal. Enter a Senegalese classroom to learn a bit of French or Wolof (national language). Gather round the baobab tree and more.
Courtesy of a striking mural by Timothy Ufuoma-Efe Orikri, visitors may embark on a visual stroll through the city, crossing the bridge past colorful fishing boats (pirogues) and horse drawn carts. Visit a Senegalese home, learn about hair braiding, visit a tailor shop, and simulate stitching on a foot-pedaled machine. This Sister City exhibit will challenge many stereotypes children seem to have about Africans and allow visitors to experience contemporary river city life in West Africa.

The Philippine Arts Foundation is collaborating with Worldways to introduce visitors to life in the "islands" through dancing the tinikling and playing games with a yoyo or sipa.  View a beautifully embroidered barong and learn to speakTagalog. Port St. Louis:

This exhibit will introduce visitors to international commerce, particularly the exporting of products from St. Louis. Children will have the opportunity to actually load simulated cargoes onto a scaled-down version of a barge. They can then pilot the tow boat and barge by computer simulation down the Mississippi River to New Orleans, where they may off-load their cargo by computer to different freighters bound for ports around the world. Hands-on components provide experiences in decoding nautical
flags, tying nautical knots, and more.
