Worldways Children's Museum seeks to assist teachers in fulfilling the Show Me Standards of the Outstanding School Act of 1993 as well as the social studies learner outcomes listed below, selected from the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education's Core Competencies and Key Skills For Missouri Schools. Please refer to the state policy manual for full program descriptions. Field trips to Worldways Children's Museum may fulfill in whole or in part, standards set forth by the State of Missouri.
"We recognize that students learn better, remember more, and develop deeper understandings of both knowledge and thinking processes if they have the opportunity to actively explore content and concepts. They view learning as the ongoing process of extending and fine tuning their ideas and understanding through application. As a result, they take responsibility for their own learning, see its worth and make connections to the world beyond the classroom."
Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education's Core
Competencies and Key Skills For Missouri Schools
At Worldways, we share the values expressed in this vision and strive to provide an engaging age-appropriate community resource for elementary classes "to actively explore the content and concepts" outlined on the reverse. Our exhibits use a multi-sensory approach to teaching and learning including auditory, visual, and hands-on activities that cater to students with different learning styles.
